Ben Murley

I am interested in a variety of research topics, such as intra/interspecific niche partitioning, predator-prey interactions, invasive species effects, and human-wildlife conflicts.  I earned my B.S. in Wildlife Ecology at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point and my M.S. in Natural Resource Ecology & Management at Oklahoma State University.  For my master’s thesis I evaluated the spatial and temporal patterns of feral swine, along with ecological relationships between swine and mesocarnivores, in the Wichita Mountains Wildlife Refuge.

My Ph.D. work will investigate how American marten respond to shifting forest structure and habitat change in the Nicolet National Forest.  This work will be conducted in collaboration with the United States Forest Service, the Great Lakes Indian Fish and Wildlife Commission, and the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources, and will aid in future management of American marten.
