REBECCA CHANDROSS
My research interests span many questions at the intersection of wildlife conservation and management, especially as it relates to mammals in northern forested ecosystems. Mammalian population dynamics and predator-prey systems will be the focus of much of my work with the Pauli Lab.
I earned my B.Sc. in ecology, evolution, and biodiversity at the University of Michigan where I fostered a love for both ecosystem science as well molecular biology while studying coral viral systems. This interest was further developed working for the Rocky Mountain Research Station at the national genomics center for wildlife and fish conservation.
For my Master’s research in the Pauli lab, I will be working on snowshoe hare population dynamics in Isle Royale NP, including utilizing historical collar data and hopefully incorporating aspects of population genetics as well. I am excited to contribute to working in such a long-studied ecosystem and to explore new facets of this system. This work will give further insight into the far spreading effects of carnivore reintroduction and wildlife management in a delicate ecosystem.
