Emma Blackdeer
I earned my Bachelors of Science in Marine Science from the University of Maine, where I developed a broad interest in animal behavior, population dynamics, and conservation ecology. I am specifically interested in how animal behavior is driven by evolution and how that contributes to the ecological role of a species.
My master’s research will focus on exploring various diets of Guloninae to identify functional genes and physiological mechanisms that contribute to different foraging strategies. I hope that this work will contribute a helpful explanation behind niche differentiation that will provide useful data on the foraging ecology of these endangered species.
